[October 2021 Newsletter] Flu Season is Here: Minimize your risk of catching the flu.

Flu Season is Here: Minimize your risk of catching the flu.

Another challenge: the potential of the flu and COVID circulating at the same time.

"Last year the low flu activity was likely due to the widespread implementation of COVID-19 preventive measures like masks, physical distancing and staying home. Because of so little disease last year, population immunity is likely lower, putting us all at risk of increased disease this year," prevention director, Rochelle Walensky at CDC said.

When vaccines are well-matched to the circulating the flu virus, they can reduce the risk of illness by between 40% and 60%, according to CDC. As COVID-19 vaccination combined with pandemic fatigue leads to less masking and social distancing, and as we are more likely back to normalcy, this fall the flu will be a little bit unpredictable.

Acupuncture can help to prevent from cold or the flu, and boost your immune system. Since kids are going back to school, the flu viruses may roar back with more opportunities to spread this fall and winter.
