[Mar 2021 Newsletter] Seasonal Allergies: Cure sinus discomfort with natural acupuncture methods.

Seasonal Allergies: Cure sinus discomfort with natural acupuncture methods.

Have you started your sinus treatments?

Treatments begin at least four to six weeks before the start of the allergy season. This allows time to build immunities to allergens. Of course, if your allergy season has already begun or if you are allergic all year round, then starting treatment immediately can still provide great relief. And if you are currently taking allergy medications, then acupuncture and herbs can help wean you from them.

Try self-acupressure points at home:

  • LI 20: This point is located bilaterally on the face, on either side of the nose to open nasal passages and clear heat from the sinuses.

  • LU 5: Located at the end of the outer crease of the elbow, just to the outside of the tendon. This point opens up the airways and the throat, while reducing wheezing.

  • Ren 17: This point is located in the middle of the chest, midway between both nipples. It is used to open the chest, loosen up congestion, stop coughing and encourage full breathing.

  • LI4: Located in the web between the thumb and index finger. It opens and clears the face, so it’s great for relieving headaches and sinus pressure!

Significance of Food

Foods that increase dampness, such as dairy, sugar, gluten and cold or raw foods, tend to cause mucus build-up. Excess mucus can cause a stronger allergic response and lead to bronchial ailments like asthma, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
